Government and Community Service
As part of our Stewardship, the Becker family has a long history of government and community service. In 1905 Max Becker moved into Lynbrook and immediately became active in the community. His son Frank J. Becker served in the New York State Assembly and then in the United States House of Representatives during the 1950’s and 1960’s. His son Francis X. Becker was Mayor of Lynbrook, and a New York State Supreme Court Judge during the 1950’s through the 1980’s.
Francis’ two sons Gregory R. Becker and Francis X. Becker, Jr. have both served in government. Gregory in the New York State Assembly during the 1980’s and 1990’s, and Francis X. Becker, Jr. is currently a member of the Nassau County Legislature. These are just a few of the many activities of the Becker family, and the list is constantly changing as the family continues to grow.
Our involvement in the community is extensive. However, a short list includes the following: Lynbrook Youth athletic Assn., Lynbrook Independent Party, Lynbrook Elks Club, Our Lady of Peace Church, St. Raymond's Church, Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce, Lynbrook H.S. Mom & Dad Club, Frank J. Becker Academic scholarship, and many other volunteer programs.
